Dunes Chegaga (Erg Chegaga)

Erg Chegaga (or Chigaga) is one of the two large ergs of the Sahara in Morocco, the other being Erg Chebbi. This dune massif located in the Souss-Massa-Drâa region, is located approximately 50 km west of the rural commune of M’Hamid El Ghizlane, itself located approximately 98 km south of the town of Zagora . With a length of approximately 40 km and a width of 15 km, this erg, with some dunes reaching a height of 300 m (170 m for Erg Chebbi), is the largest and wildest in Morocco. Due to its relatively difficult access, only accessible by 4×4, on camel or on foot, Erg Chigaga remains less frequented than Erg Chebbi.
